“One Nation Under God" is a phrase in the United States Pledge of Allegiance that affirms our Country is unified under Divine Authority.
This phrase was added by Congress in 1954 during the Cold War to distinguish the United States from "Godless" Communism; it was incorporated into the Pledge after "One Nation.” It reflects a belief in foundational, divinely-inspired principles.
