The Sheriff's Department initially withheld key evidence from the FBI, opting to use a Private Lab instead of the FBI's National Crime Lab, which slowed the investigation.

In the 2025 New York City Mayoral Election, voter turnout was approximately 41.5% of registered voters, with over 2 million ballots cast.
