One of the most expensive gifts ever given to a U.S. President while in office was a bejeweled sword and dagger set presented to President George W. Bush by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in 2007. The set, encrusted with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, was valued at over $85,000.

According to (U.S. law), Presidents cannot keep such valuable gifts personally. They are typically accepted on behalf of the U.S. Government and transferred to the National Archives or other relevant institutions.
